Brighton marathon
April 2010

On Sunday 18th April 2010 GAR supporter Paul Loader ran the Brighton Marathon in aid of Greek Animal Rescue.

He completed the marathon in 3 hours, 18 minutes and came 275th out of 12,000 runners.

The grand total raised was £3,530. Which is a fantatsic amount!

THANK YOU to Paul for helping to raise funds for animals in Greece.
WELL DONE!

Below, Paul describes his reasons for supporting GAR

I am lucky enough to have 7 rescued Greek dogs, all thanks to GAR, and would love to raise as much money as I can as some small repayment for all the joy my dogs bring me every day.

I will be running this race in memory of Agapi. Agapi was a very special dog who belonged to Julie Tsiakmakis who runs a shelter for stray and abandoned dogs and cats in Halkidiki, Greece. Agapi was poisoned outside Julie's children's school and died an agonising death. Julie has saved many thousands of dogs and cats but was sadly unable to save Agapi. This race is for you Agapi, and all the other countless, unwanted and unloved thousands of innocent dogs and cats who die of poisoning on the streets of Greece every year, and who continue to die the horrific death of poisoning every day.
RIP beautiful girl.
