Dale - rescued from the brink of death This very thin pointer was first sighted by a local resident near the village of Pefkohori in Feb 2010 who then reported the dog to Julie at Halkidiki Animal Rescue. Julie asked everybody she knew in the area to be on the lookout for him and alert her as soon as he was spotted. After a week of no sightings everyone feared the worst. Yet incredibly he did reappear and the dog was immediately taken to Julie's. He was extremely malnourished and had sustained a serious wound to his 'private parts', but Julie managed to make him comfortable and with the aid of antibiotics, nourishing food and a lot of care he started on the road to recovery. The pointer was named Dale after Northdale Veterinary Practice based in Worthing. Northdale vets have been holding a number of fund raising events in aid of GAR and have, in particular, been raising money for Dale to be brought over to the UK. THANK YOU NORTHDALE VETS! Dale will be arriving at his new home in September 2010. He will be in good company as his new mum and dad, Paul and Titch, already share their home with 7 other dogs rescued from Greece. |
