Directive on animal abuse in Greece A coalition of Friends of Animals groups in Greece have been arranging meetings with the Chief of Greek Police regarding the animal abuse that is widespread across the country and how it is being reported worldwide. As a result of these meetings, on 4 August 2010 the Chief of Police issued a directive to all police departments throughout the country instructing all departments to take appropriate and lawful measures when dealing with reports of animal abuse in Greece. The police of Greece are obviously feeling under pressure from high profile internet campaigns highlighting the plight of animals in Greece as well as petition sites and mass emails to municipalities that have failed in their responsibilities to the abandoned, neglected and abused animals in their jurisdiction. Having the support of the Police is something that has long been missing in our fight for animal welfare and rights in Greece. We are asking that people please thank the Greek Chief of Police for his unprecedented acknowledgment and written action for enforcement against animal abusers. To show your support please SIGN THE PETITION |
