Emaciated dog found thrown alive in a rubbish bin
This extremely malnourished dog was found in a rubbish bin in the village of Pamphilla, Lesvos, by a volunteer from Kivotos animal shelter. Mabrouk, as he has been named was thankfully rescued in time, but it's too early to say if he will pull through. He had difficulty breathing and was unable to eat for a while so was kept on a drip. He is now starting to eat which is very encouraging. The dog's face is swollen because the collar was on so tightly his lungs struggled to work meaning the the blood circulation to his head & brain was affected.
The video footage below is an interview with Dimitra (the little dog's rescuer) for Mytilene TV. In the footage Dimitra reports on the Mabrouks' condition. "He is progressing well. We hope he will be better very soon. He has and appetite an is eating and drinking. He enjoys walking in the garden. His head is still very heavy and he is having some difficulty holding it up. It's important that he puts on some weight. He's following me wherever I go and he can not take his eyes off me! He unexpectedly jumped up onto my bed, where I left him laying. Today he manage to bark a little. He even barked at a cat who approached his food. Tomorrow he will see the vet again who is monitoring his progress."
