Neglected donkey on Poros

On 10th August 2010 we received the email below from a contact on Kefalonia regarding a neglected donkey on Poros.

On Thursday evening I received a call from a lady in Piraeus about this donkey, and we spoke again on Friday resulting in me going to Poros to meet the lady who had first seen the donkey and reported it to Stavroula. Unfortunately, the donkey was nowhere to be found despite the police taking us up into the mountains to try to find it. I went back to the police station to make a statement from the evidence in the photo's and the police have registered the papers with the Public Prosecutor. I have had many calls from the mainland and have even been told that it is now known about in Brussels.

The donkey has had some treatment for the wounds there are other wounds not shown in the photo's, however if it stays with this man he will put the collar back on and the problem will not improve, it must be in a lot of pain from the sores. The donkey is very afraid of people and I understand that this man has been seen hitting it. He has told the police that tourists took the donkey and that the people who took the photo's put tomato ketchup on to make it look bad!
