Misty - the victim of terrible cruelty on the island of Crete

On 4th August 2010 we received the email below from an English lady who has been living on the island of Crete for 3 years.

Please can you help us to try to rehome a near dead dog we found 2 weeks ago with a deeply embedded wire around her neck?
She is responding well to treatment and is a lovely tall, gangly approx one year old dog. I have contacted groups here, one has answered and they are kindly arranging for her to be spayed and get vaccinations.
We already have 2 rescue dogs anddesperately need to find her a safe home outside Crete. My heart is broken with all the cruelty here, I wish we had never moved. I have photos I could send.
Thank you.
Jane.

In subsequent emails Jane went on to describe how she had found Misty (as she has now been named) living near some bins in Gavalahori. Because of the severe injuries caused by the wire embedded in her neck she had to be sedated before she could be caught. Jane gave her some tinned dog food laced with sedatives before taking her to the vets for immediate treatment.

Misty has made a full recovery and we are currently looking to find her a foster home until a forever home can be found.
