Sonya - Saved from certain death

Sonya On the 29th September 2008, two German tourists came across a dog while driving around the island of Kos, near the popular resort of Kefalos.

The dog had been chained to a kennel and had no means of food or water. As you can see from the pictures, she was extremely emaciated and in urgent need of veterinary attention.

The tourists knew they could not leave her there and had to resort to using bolt cutters to remove the chain from around her neck. They then took her to a shelter where she received veterinary treatment.

After receiving the care she needed, Sonya (as she has now been named) is making a great recovery. She is now going to a loving home but it most definitely would have been a different story if the tourists had not rescued her in time.

The pictures of Sonya below were taken on October 17th 2008. Only 20 days after she was rescued! She is a lively girl and loves a lot of attention.
